    Temple Public Library Receives Achievement of Library Excellence Award

    TEMPLE, TX (March 7, 2025) – The Temple Public Library has received the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association. 
    To successfully receive this award, the library must exhibit excellence by providing services to underserved communities, demonstrating innovative marketing, pursuing collaborative efforts, offering unique and expanded programming, providing literacy support and digital inclusion, supporting workforce development, promoting cultural, topical, educational programming, comprehensively training staff, and offering unique services to their community. 
    This recognition celebrates the library's dedication to being a welcoming space for families and residents of Temple and surrounding areas. Through promoting access to information, connection with services, engagement with community members, and acquiring experiences through programming and library materials, the library aims to spur life-long learning and enrichment. 

    Receiving the Texas Municipal Library Director's Achievement of Excellence Award is a true honor and a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of our library staff. This recognition highlights our commitment to providing outstanding programs, services, and resources that meet the diverse needs of our community. We take great pride in fostering lifelong learning opportunities for all. To be among the select libraries recognized statewide affirms our mission to serve as a vital hub for education, enrichment, and connection in Temple.

    Additionally, the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum Foundation Board has donated a $33,500 check to the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum for a trackless train, with the goal of enhancing the visitor experience and furthering its mission of preserving Temple’s rich railroad history.

    "The museum has had a lot of neat things for a long time, but this will make it even neater," said the Foundation Board President. "It’s our pleasure to donate the trackless train to the museum."
