District 3 Council Seat Term expires May 2026
TEMPLE, TX (May 13, 2025) - The City of Temple is accepting applications from residents interested in filling the unexpired term of District 3 Councilwoman Susan Long, who submitted her resignation Tuesday from the Temple City Council. The term is set to expire in May 2026.
The City Council will appoint a qualified individual to serve the remainder of the current term. Beginning Wednesday, May 14, the City will open a two-week application period for residents of District 3 who are interested in serving on the Council. All applications must be complete, notarized, and submitted no later than Wednesday, May 28, 2025, by 5 p.m.
Applicants must reside within District 3 and meet all eligibility requirements outlined in the City Charter and state law. Interested individuals are encouraged to visit templetx.gov/council for more information, and click HERE to access the application form.
The Mayor and four City Councilmembers, as the elected representatives of the City of Temple, formulate public policy to address community needs and assure orderly development in the City.
Council meetings are scheduled for the first and third Thursday of each month, at 5:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building located in the 2nd Floor Council Chambers preceded by the City Council Workshop in the 3rd Floor Conference Room.
The City Council is expected to review applications and make an appointment following the conclusion of the submission period.
