Temple, TX – June 5, 2025 – Chief Reynolds announced today that Deputy Chief Joe Dimento has graduated as a member of the 294th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation ceremony took place at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on June 5, 2025. Nationally, fewer than one percent of law enforcement officers are selected to attend this prestigious program.
Internationally recognized for its academic excellence, the FBI National Academy provides 10 weeks of advanced training in leadership, communication, and physical fitness. Candidates are nominated by their department heads and must have demonstrated exceptional professional achievement and leadership potential.
The 294th session consisted of 239 law enforcement professionals representing 48 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, 14 countries, six military organizations, and four federal civilian agencies.
Deputy Chief Joe Dimento has been with the Temple Police Department for 15 years and currently oversees Patrol Operations. He holds a master’s degree in Applied Criminology from Texas A&M University–Commerce.

The FBI National Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia—the same facility where the FBI trains its new agents and intelligence analysts. Instruction is provided by FBI special agents and staff, many of whom are internationally recognized subject matter experts with advanced degrees. Since 1972, students have had the opportunity to earn undergraduate and graduate credits through the University of Virginia, which accredits many of the courses offered.
