Bridge closure extended through February 2026
TEMPLE, TX (September 3, 2025) – The 24th Street overpass, between Martin Luther King Jr Drive and East Avenue N, is anticipated to remain closed to traffic and pedestrians through February 2026.
This closure extension is required to allow monitoring and engineering analysis of the bridge to address issues found during this improvement project. No pedestrian or vehicular traffic will be allowed on the overpass through approximately February 2026. After the engineering analysis is received and reviewed, further extension of this closure may be required.
Progress is being made on the 24th Street Overpass and Pedestrian Improvements Project
Traffic will continue to be directed to East Avenue H and Martin Luther King Jr Drive for the duration of this closure. Drivers and pedestrians should use caution in the area and pay attention to all detour signage and traffic control devices.
