TEMPLE, TX (October 6, 2025) – The Temple Police Department would like to correct a previous statement stating the driver of the 18-wheeler stayed on scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as 32-year-old Jesus Garcia, initially did not stop after the accident occurred and continued down the highway. Mr. Garcia then stopped near Salado, TX, and complied with the investigation. Mr. Garcia has been placed under arrest for failure to stop and render aid involving personal injury or death.

TEMPLE, TX (October 6, 2025) – The Temple Police Department is investigating a traffic accident that left one individual deceased.
At around 3:38 p.m., on Monday, October 6, officers were dispatched to the area near exit 298 southbound on Interstate 35. Upon arrival, officers learned an individual had been attempting to cross I35 when he was struck by an 18-wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler has stayed on scene.
One individual was pronounced deceased on scene by Justice of the Peace Rosanne Fisher. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
The Temple Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Unit will be on scene, and this portion of the highway will be shut down for several hours.
