Event to be held on Friday, December 5
TEMPLE, TX (November 26, 2025) — The Temple Public Library invites the community to launch the 2025 Winter Reading Challenge by attending Light Up for Literacy on Friday, December 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. The celebration begins with a special performance by award-winning children’s musician Joe McDermott, at 4 p.m.

Community members are encouraged to come together in a warm and festive atmosphere that celebrates the joy of shared stories. Guests will enjoy hot cocoa, hands-on crafts, an indoor Holiday Story Stroll, and seasonal activities that highlight how reading strengthens connection across generations.
The library’s annual Winter Reading Challenge, "Cozy Up with a Good Book," invites participants to pick up Adult and Youth Bingo Cards at the event and throughout the winter, which are filled with reading prompts and activity challenges that encourage curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning.
Participants may track their progress online via Beanstack and earn prizes through January 31, 2026.
