TEMPLE, TX (March 26, 2026) – The City of Temple has completed the installation of a new train-themed playground at Fred Springer Park, bringing a new family-friendly amenity to the community.
Located near the Santa Fe Plaza, the newly installed playground features a train-themed design created specifically for children ages 2 to 5. The play structure includes a locomotive front with molded wheels, elevated play decks, and enclosed rail-style panels that resemble train cars, encouraging imaginative and interactive play.

Additionally, to enhance safety and accessibility, the playground is equipped with a poured-in-place rubber surface, providing a seamless and cushioned area for children to play.
This new playground is a great addition to Fred Springer Park and reflects our commitment to creating high-quality recreational spaces for Temple families. We’re excited to see children and families enjoying this new feature.
Chuck Ramm, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation
In addition to the playground, Fred Springer Park also offers other amenities for families to enjoy including two acres of open space, picnic tables, and convenient access to nearby attractions such as a splash pad and picnic pavilion at Santa Fe Plaza.
The completion of this project supports the City of Temple’s goal of investing in infrastructure and amenities that enhance the quality of life for families in the community.
