    City Manager Brynn Myers Announces Coy Brown as Temple’s Next Police Chief

    (TEMPLE, TX April 8, 2026) - The City of Temple has selected Coy Brown as its next Police Chief following an extensive national search.
    City Manager Brynn Myers noted that the highly competitive recruitment process drew 32 candidates from eight states, including 22 from Texas, along with applicants from Colorado, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, and Virginia.

    Brown currently serves with the City of Cedar Park, Texas, where he has led the executive command of both the Operations and Support Services Bureaus.
    Since joining the Cedar Park Police Department in 2007, Brown has risen through the ranks as an officer, corporal, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, and commander.
    He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice – Operations Management from Concordia University Texas and is completing his master’s degree in public safety from the University of Virginia.
    Brown is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Senior Management Institute for Police, Leadership Command College, and the Travis County LEADS Leadership Academy, and holds a Master Peace Officer Proficiency Certification.
    A certified Texas Commission on Law Enforcement instructor, Brown has served more than 12 years as an Adjunct Instructor with the Capital Area Council of Governments Police Academy.
    He is also a firearms instructor, Basic SWAT School Instructor for the Central Texas Regional SWAT Team, and an experienced Active Shooter Instructor.
    Brown’s leadership philosophy is grounded in visible, relationship-based command and servant leadership.

    The city partnered with Public Sector Search and Consulting (PSSC), a national executive recruitment firm, to facilitate the search process.
    Brown will begin his service to the City of Temple on May 1st, 2026.
