September is Library Card Sign-Up Month at Temple Public Library

TEMPLE, TX (August 31, 2026) – September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Temple Public Library is inviting the community to celebrate by signing up for a library card. 

Recognized by the American Library Association, Library Card Sign-Up Month is a national campaign supporting the importance of library cards and children's literacy. This year's theme is "A library card hits all the right notes." 

Starting September 1, Temple Public Library is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month by giving out limited-edition tote bags to new cardholders on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Additionally, on Saturday, September 19, the library is offering a tour of the facility, showcasing each floor, program rooms and all the resources Temple Public Library has to offer. 

Temple Public Library offers resident, non-resident, student, teacher, Rock and Read and quick access library cards. To obtain a library card, individuals over the age of 16 will need to present their government-issued identification card with their current address listed or a government-issued identification card and proof of residency.

Library cards can be created and picked up at the service desks in the library, located on the first floor. Library cards are free for Temple residents and $30 for those living outside of Temple city limits.
