TEMPLE, TX (October 14, 2026) – The Temple Police Department is investigating child sexual abuse material that has led to an arrest.
On Wednesday, October 7, officers with the Temple Police Department and Killeen Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Tally Ho Road in Killeen, TX. During the search, officers seized multiple electronic devices belonging to 40-year-old Damien Ross Steinrich that are suspected of containing child sexual abuse material. Mr. Steinrich was transported to Killeen City Jail for PC 43.26(c-1)(1)(B), Possession of Child Pornography, before being transported to Bell County Jail on October 10.
The Temple Police Department's Special Crimes Unit is actively investigating the case and coordinating with the appropriate child protective services and licensing agencies regarding Nurturing Nest Childcare, a daycare facility in Killeen owned by Mr. Steinrich and his wife. Mr. Steinrich's wife and family have been fully cooperative throughout the investigation. At this time, Nurturing Nest Childcare remains open. Any determination regarding the facility's continued operation will be made in coordination with the appropriate regulatory agencies based on information developed during the investigation.
Investigators are continuing to review evidence collected during the execution of the search warrant and are working to identify and contact individuals who may have been victimized. The department is committed to thoroughly reviewing the evidence, identifying any potential victims, and ensuring appropriate notifications are made as the investigation progresses. At this stage of the investigation, investigators have not established a connection between individuals associated with the Hutto Youth Baseball and Softball Association and Nurturing Nest Childcare. Should additional evidence establish such a connection, the department will coordinate with the appropriate agencies to ensure affected individuals and families are notified.
The Temple Police Department recognizes the concerns this investigation may raise among parents, families, and community members. The department remains committed to conducting a thorough investigation, protecting potential victims, and working closely with its law enforcement and regulatory partners.
