    City of Temple Recognized for Urban Planning Excellence

    Temple receives prestigious Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Planning Excellence Award

    TEMPLE, TX (November 6, 2025) — The City of Temple has been recognized by the American Planning Association – Texas Chapter with the Richard R. Lillie, FAICP Planning Excellence Award, honoring the city’s commitment to high-quality urban planning and community development.

    Presented annually, the award highlights Texas cities that demonstrate outstanding leadership in comprehensive planning, public engagement, and community improvement. Temple’s recognition reflects the collaborative efforts of city departments working together to promote smart growth, economic development, and quality of life enhancements across the community.
    The Planning & Development Department accepted the award during the 2025 American Planning Association (APA) Texas State Planning Conference in College Station, held outside of Kyle Field. The event brought together planners and city leaders from across the state to celebrate achievements in community planning and innovation.
