Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, February 18
TEMPLE, TX (February 11, 2026) – The City of Temple is excited to invite the community to attend the 5th Annual Black History Month Ceremony, a public event recognizing the lasting contributions, leadership, and cultural impact of Black Americans in Temple and across the nation. This year’s ceremony aligns with the national Black History Month theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” highlighting 100 years of honoring Black history, achievements, and progress.
WHAT: 5th Annual Black History Month Ceremony
WHEN: Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center, 3303 N. 3rd St., Temple
The ceremony will feature theme-related elements, including reflections on the evolution of Black History Month and its significance today, as well as remarks from local leaders and community voices. Attendees will hear from individuals who continue to shape Temple through leadership, service, and advocacy, reinforcing the city’s commitment to inclusivity, recognition, and shared history.
The Black History Month Ceremony will include a proclamation presented to the NAACP and special acknowledgments recognizing the contributions of Black leaders, business owners, and city employees. The ceremony serves as both a celebration and a moment of reflection, honoring the past while looking toward the future of the Temple community.

The Black History Month Ceremony is free and open to the public. No RSVP is required.
