YAC is a student-led program that emphasizes empowering students to become leaders in their community
TEMPLE, TX (July 27, 2026) – Applications for the City of Temple Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) open on August 1.
YAC is a student-led program that emphasizes student empowerment and community leadership. With guidance from City of Temple staff, students participate in various learning opportunities that teach them about local government, the community and preparing for the future.
YAC focuses on Core Values of:
- Empowerment
- Engagement
- Youth Voice
- Leadership Development
- Community Service
Participating in the program allows students to network, prepare for their future endeavors and gain knowledge about government and leadership.
To qualify to serve on the Temple Youth Advisory Commission, applicants and members must:
- Attend school within the City of Temple or reside within the City of Temple limits
- Enter 9th through 12th grade public, private, or home school
- Able to complete and submit the application by the application deadline
- Commit to attending meetings and participating in community service projects, events, and program activities throughout the school year
- Demonstrate an interest in leadership, community service or civic engagement
- Maintain good standing with their school (if you want an academic/conduct component)
- Be willing to actively participate in discussions, projects, and volunteer activities
- Serve as a positive representative of the City of Temple and their school/community
For the 2026-2027 school year the application period for Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) members will be August 1 - September 15, 2026.
