Afternoon fire in west Temple
TEMPLE, TX (March 13, 2025) – This afternoon at 12:40pm Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a debris fire in the area of Prairie View Rd and Dewberry Lane. First arriving crews quickly found a camper trailer at the rear of a property located at 1737 Dewberry Lane that was fully engulfed in flames. Fire had spread through overgrown vegetation igniting several debris piles on the property. Firefighters gained access to the rear of the lot, where multiple crews began extinguishing the growing fire. The blaze was called under control at 1:40pm. Aside from the camper, no structures were involved. Fire damage to the debris piles included an old van, a boat, and what appeared to be old lawn and misc. power equipment. There were no injuries reported with this incident. Temple Fire and Rescue responded with 9 units, and 19 personnel. Also on scene were units from Belton Fire Dept., Moffat VFD. Morgans Point Resort Fire Dept., and Troy VFD; for a total of 16 fire units and 30 fire personnel. Temple Police Dept., Temple Animal Services, and Temple EMS assisted on the call as well. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
