Temple Fire and Rescue responds to structure fire at local apartment complex.
Temple, Texas (September 9, 2026) - Earlier today at 10:54am, Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire in the area of 2402 S 61st Street, at The Hilltop apartment complex. Initial reports stated that 1 unit had been involved, with other units only receiving smoke damage.
Upon arrival crews found light smoke coming from a downstairs apartment. Entry was made, and the fire was located in the area of the bathroom. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, and bring the incident under control. Additional crews searched adjoining units, to ensure all tenants were accounted for and safe. 1 occupant was at home, in the unit when the incident occurred and was able to evacuate. In total the complex management says 5 people will be temporarily relocated due to the incident. EMS evaluated 2 people on scene for minor injuries. Neither were transported for treatment.
Temple Fire and Rescue responded with 15 unite, and 34 personnel. Also on scene were Temple Police Department, and Temple EMS. All units were clear of the scene by 1:15pm. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation at this time.
