Fire crews battle large structuire fire, in abandoned facility.
TEMPLE, TX (May 28, 2025) - This evening at 8:37pm, Temple Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the area of 700 Industrial Blvd for the report of a structure fire. Upon the arrival of fire crews, heavy smoke and flames was found coming from a nearby structure, initiating a multiple alarm response. The building, located at 612 Industrial Blvd, once a nursing home, was vacant and unoccupied at the time of the incident.
Crews began extinguishment efforts, while simultaneously evacuating residents from the Asbury Park Apartments that were close to the abandoned facility. A few of the apartments received thermal damage from the intense heat of the fire. The facility itself was a complete loss. There have been no report of injuries associated with this call.
With many Temple Fire units on scene, additional resources were called in from the surrounding cities and communities. Also on scene were Killeen Fire Dept., Troy VFD, Temple Police Dept., Temple EMS, and Temple CERT. Other resources assisting in Temple during this event were Belton Fire Dept., Morgans Point Resort Fire Dept., and Salado Fire Dept.
The cause of the blaze is not known and currently being investigated by the Fire Marshal's Office, at this time. Crews remain on scene extinguishing the remaining hot-spots of debris. Atmos Energy is also on scene working on an active gas line. Please avoid the area if possible, the roads will continue to be closed.
