TEMPLE, TX (January 30, 2026) – The City of Temple is pleased to announce Erin Gaines as the new Assistant Director of Libraries and Museums.
Gaines brings more than 28 years of experience in public libraries and holds a Master of Library Science from the University of North Texas. A Temple native, she returned home in 2006 to be closer to family and began her career with the Temple Public Library as Youth Services Supervisor. Since then, she has played a vital role in the department’s growth through strong leadership, institutional knowledge, and a deep commitment to serving the community. Gaines’ work reflects a strong belief in libraries as welcoming, community-centered spaces that support lifelong learning and meaningful connection.

During the 2025 fiscal year ending September 30, the City of Temple’s Libraries and Museums Department experienced continued growth in literacy, access, and cultural engagement. Library circulation increased eight percent, more than 770 programs were offered to the community, and the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum welcomed over 18,000 visitors while hosting more than 4,000 program participants and seven special exhibitions.
