TEMPLE, TX (February 20, 2026) — The City of Temple is strengthening its efforts to support those experiencing homelessness by expanding funding to Feed My Sheep, a key local nonprofit providing services to residents in need. City Council recently approved a contract amendment that allocates an additional $89,133 to the organization’s homeless diversion program, bringing the total agreement value to $189,133.
This reallocation comes from unused funds within the Affordable Rental Housing Incentive Program, where demand decreased this year. Redirecting these dollars ensures they remain committed to supporting housing stability and meeting the community’s most urgent needs.

The additional funding will allow Feed My Sheep to assist more individuals and families who are at risk of becoming homeless by providing services such as emergency financial assistance, resource navigation, and access to supportive programs. Homeless diversion is a proactive strategy, helping residents remain housed and preventing them from entering crisis situations.
This investment aligns with two major City priorities:
- Neighborhoods Where People Love to Live – strengthening safe, vibrant neighborhoods where residents feel supported and engaged.
- Homelessness & Mental Health Strategic Plan – advancing the City’s goal to reduce or eliminate homelessness in Bell County through coordinated, compassionate solutions.
