Event to be held on Saturday, March 7

The Temple Public Library is inviting the community to the inaugural Temple TALE, Texas Author & Literature Experience, the library's first-ever writers’ festival. The event will bring together readers, writers and creatives of all ages for an afternoon of author talks, poetry, hands-on activities and a celebration of Texas storytelling.
WHAT: Temple TALE – Texas Author & Literature Experience
WHEN: Saturday, March 7, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
WHERE: Temple Public Library, located at 100 W. Adams Ave.
This free, family-friendly festival will feature author talks, poetry readings and panel discussions on the library’s main stage. Texas poet Dwight Gray will open and close the event with readings that highlight themes of creativity and community.
Additional highlights include a family story time with children’s author Tonee B. Shelton (The Scared Frog Takes the Leap, 2025); a multi-author panel featuring Jay S. Bell, Johnny Compton, Dan Elder, Dwight Gray, and Glenn Hightower; and a featured program with author and veteran Sarah Doran (Sleeping Giants, 2024) exploring stories that honor military families.
Hands-on creative activities will run throughout the afternoon. Children ages 8 and up can create and bind their own books, teens can design original zines for the Temple TALE Zine Collection and adults can explore bookbinding techniques while making their own travel journals.

Temple TALE is free and open to the public. Full festival details are available at exploretpl.com/templetale.
